you learn

it's not the first time that i encounter with this poem and everytime i read it it i discover something different

if you search for it on the web is more likely that you see it being assigned to willian shahespeare. actually this poem is an adaptation of veronica a. shoffstall original text "after a while" that you can find it here.

after some time you learn the difference, the subtle difference between giving a hand and fettering a soul;
and you learn that to love doesn't mean to support yourself, and that company doesn't always mean security. and you learn that kisses are not contracts and that gifts are not promises.

and you learn that it doesn’t matter how much you care, some people just don’t.
and you accept that it doesn’t matter how good someone can be, they will hurt you once in a while and you have to forgive them for that.
you learn that it takes years to build trust and just seconds to destroy it, and you can do things in a second that you will regret for the rest of your life…

you learn that friendship continuous to grow even with the distance and that what matters is not what you have in life, but who you are in life.
and you learn that you don’t have to change friends if you understand that friends change, and you realize that you and your friend can do nothing or everything and still have good times together.

and you learn that the people you care the most are taken away from you too fast, that is why we should always say caring things to those we love, because it might be the last time we see them…
you learn that it takes a long time for you to become the person you want to be, and that life is too short.
and you learn that it doesn't matter where you've already gotten to, but where you are going, and if you don't know where you're going, anywhere will do.

and you learn that heroes are those that did only what was necessary...
you learn that maturity is about what kind of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them, not how many birthdays you have already celebrated.
you learn that you should never tell a child that dreams are foolishness, few things are so humiliating that it would be a tragedy if he believed that.

you learn that when you are angry you have the right to be angry, but that does not give you the right to be cruel.
you learn that with the same harshness that you judge, you someday, will be condemned.
you learn that no matter how many pieces your heart was broken into, the world doesn't stop so you can fix it. you learn that you cannot go back in time, so you have to take care of your garden and not wait for someone to bring you flowers.

and you learn that our doubts are disloyal and that makes us lose what we could achieve, if it weren’t for the fear of trying.
and you start to accept your loss with your head up and eyes straight ahead, with the grace of a grown-up, not the sadness of a child.
you learn to build the roads of today, because tomorrow's land is too unknown to make plans and the future usually falls from nowhere.
after a while you learn that the sun burns if you expose yourself to it for very long.
and you learn that talking can be a relief to emotional pain.
and you learn that you shouldn’t compare yourself to others, but to the best you can become.

you learn that either you control your acts or they will control you, and that being flexible doesn't mean you are being weak, or that you don't have a personality, for no matter how delicate and fragile a situation is, there are always two sides of it.
you learn that patience requires a lot of practice.

you find out that sometimes the person that you expect to kick you when you fall, is one of the few that will help you up.
you learn that there's more of your parents in you than you suppose.
you learn that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want to be loved, it doesn't mean that the person doesn't know how to love, and s/he loves you as much as s/he can, because there are people who love you, but simply don't know how to show it.

you learn that being forgiven is never enough, sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
and you learn you can really bear it, that you're really strong and that you can go farther than you think, and that life has a value and you have a value before life!

as the end of the world is tomorrow and because the mayans didn't warned us if it's going to be at midnight, if it's going to be during the day or if it's going to start in australia and then progressively move to the other countries or if it's going to be all at once and so one, i couldn't let you all go without one last happy friday :p

action expresses priorities - mahatma gandi

is the second time I read it in less than 1h, and I must confess that made me think about several things that have happened in my life recently and not so recently and also in what I have done.

does our actions actually represent our priorities??

in my case some yes, others no. and it is frightening to think that many things I did have nothing to do with the that I actually want and desire in life.

and I blame the "fear", it is always there
and the worst is that sometimes it is not the fear of failure, or fear of what others may think but the fear of getting what you want.
since this is the time of the year to make our new year's resolutions I think that before we do this, we should examine deep down inside what we wanted for this year and if we took the actions necessary to get what we wanted. did you??

tough world

sometimes the world is just too much to handle. it can be so wearing

sometimes i just feel like giving up and accept that the world is lost. but deep down inside i refuse to believe in that and hope that people are good but are just misguided and that eventually they will find their place. in the meanwhile they can be very rude and mean to you.

i dont know what you think, but for me sometimes, as a women, i find the day to day very tough. have to be always strong and be able to handle with everything and everyone and god forbide that you show your emotions. if you do you're immediately cataloged as someone less.

i am the kind of person that always try to see situations trough a diferent perspective and try to put myself in others shoes...not today. i'm tired, exausted in fact.
i'm tired of all the confrontation just because i have a different opinion or because i'm fighting for my rights.

do we even have rights anymore?? i'm seeing the future very dark today :((


well, at least tomorrow is another day and hopefully my good mood will be back.

holding hands

holding hands might be the cutest thing ever. it's such an intimate gesture, yet so innocent at the same time. when you feel their hand touching the palm of your yours, it's like the entire world it's at your fingertips at that moment. and even better, the first tie two people ever hold hands, is precious. when the person nudges at your hand and eventually slides their fingers interlocking with yours and you feel your cheeks getting warm, turning a shade of rosy pink and your heart pounding like drums. when they grasp on so tight like it would be impossible to let you go. how their hand just seems to fit right into yours as if it was it was meant to be that way. so beautiful and satisfying with a rush of different emotions. and just with the knowledge that your hands are linked together makes your heart even fonder and you can literally feel how close you are to each other.

the lonely whale

a couple of weeks ago i came across with a news that was a bit intriguing to say the least.

in the great blue ocean there is an animal that it is totally alone. it has no family, no friends, no lover, no nothing. it's a big whale that wonders through the ocean searching for another who can hear her

scientist first discover the whale lonely song in 1992 and they have been tracking her ever since.

with the whale overhunting this beautifull animals do suffer from loneliness because there are just a few from the same species for they to communicate. they sing and sing for a very long time untill they find others like them. the marine noise pollution it is another factor that prevents whales from communicating.
but this is a different case. this particulary whale does not travel in the migratory path that whales do and her song is so high that other whales cannot hear her

in 2004 the new york times wrote an article about the loneliest whale in the world, you can read it here

scientists discovered that this whale sings at 52 Hz when it should be between 12 and 25Hz like every other whale song.
because of this particularly no other whale can hear her cry for companionship. you can listen to the whales song here.

with this scientists discovered that the whales voice goes deeper as they grow older.

researchers have different oppinios about the origins of the whale. some say that she is a deformed hibrid between two different species or the last surviving member of an unknown species.
although the whale has been monitored over the years nobody as ever seen her. so it is kind of a mystery how does she looks like. even though scientists were able to track the migratory nature of whales, to find a specific moving target it's unlikely to be possible


Just imagine that massive mammal, floating alone and singing—too big to connect with most of the beings it passes, feeling paradoxically small in the vast stretches of empty, open ocean.

London Chocolate Festival 2012

para los que no todavia no lo saben a mi me encantan las galletas con chispas de chocolate, leche de chocolate, pastel de chocolate, las fresas con chocolate, helado de chocolate, caramelos de chocolate...creo que el termino cientifico es "chocoholic" 

yo soy de esas personas que utiliza como argumento para comer chocolate las descubiertas cientificas que dicen que la cacao ayuda a prevenir enfermedades del corazon.

la verdad es que lo unico que yo necesito es mi dosis diaria de chocolate para me hacer feliz :D

por todo esto no  os imaginais la alegria que senti cuando descubri que este fin de semana era el festival de chocolate de londres....uhu!!!!

el festival empezaba a las 11am pero a las 10:45am ya estaba yo insitu

cuando vi la noticia del festival me imagine como el de obidos en portugal, con esculturas gigantes de chocolate y cosas asi.

bueno, no fue el caso pero no obstante fue un par de horas muy agradables (al final es un festival de chocolate :p)

ademas de las tiendas promocionando los mas sofisticados y premiados chocolateros del mundo tambien habia masterclass para ensenar a trabajar con el chocolate.

fue emocionante escuchar los chocolateros hablaren de sus productos, de sus caracteristicas, de como probar un chocolate y la mejor forma de potenciar sus sabores. algunos incluso hablan de sus proximas colecciones como se de moda se tratase. fue muy curioso.

for those who do not yet know me I love chocolate cookies, chocolate milk, chocolate cake, chocolate strawberries, chocolate ice cream, chocolate candies....I think the scientific term is "chocoholic"
I am one of those people who use as an argument to eat chocolate the scientific discoveries that say that cocoa helps prevent heart disease

the truth is that the only thing I need is my daily dose of chocolate to make me happy: D

for all this you do not imagine the joy I felt when I discovered that this weekend was the London Chocolate Festival .... uhu!!
the festival began at 11am but at 10:45 am I was already there

when I saw the news of the festival I imagined like the one in obidos in portugal, with giant sculptures of chocolate and stuff like that.

well, that was not the case but nevertheless was a very pleasant couple of hours (in the end it is a chocolate festival :p)

there where little stores promoting the most sophisticated and award-winning chocolatiers in the world there were also a masterclasse to teach how to work with chocolate.

it was exciting to hear the chocolatiers speak of their products, of their characteristics, how to taste it and the best way to enhance their flavors. some even talk about their upcoming collections as if it was a fashion collection. it was very interesting
