o que é ser humano & what is it to be human

...

a few days ago i found by chance an article about a documentary called human. the authors define it as an approach to what means to be human, not by the statistics available but by interviews to several people from around the globe.

it's a very well made documentary where you only see and hear the participants with a black background comment on each topic. it's very raw in that sense and what makes it so socking.
it is divided into 3 volumes, each with an average duration of  1h30. on each volume, topics are divided by segments and each segment is intertwined by incredible footage of some of the countries where the makers of the film have been. the documentary is subtitled in english and the interviewed talk in their mother tongue.

i saw all 3 videos on the same day, which i do not recommend as even today i feel overwhelmed and i feel that my brain is still processing all that information.

like everything in life, there were times that i agreed with their opinions, some times i did not but understood their positions, and others i completely disagreed. and many other times i had a total powerless sensation due to those people realities.

i got emotional several times listening to their intimate and profound confessions that i felt a bit ashamed for being there listening to it, as if i was peeking behind a door.
other times, i felt as if they were talking straight at me, such was the level of understanding and connection with that persons experience.

if there is something that you should do is to watching these videos. watch them all at once, one per day, one per week or even one per month...but watch it. it's quite an experience.

share in comments your opinions or send me an email. i'll love to know what you think.

nova vida & new life

for many, resolutions are made around new year's eve or so. for me it's after the holidays with back to school. although i have completed my studies some years ago, i like to consider myself an eternal student and that's the reason why september is so important to me.
this year has even more importance to me as it was the month s and i decided to celebrate our second wedding.

now that we've had another dream party, that he finally met my incredibly crazy and fantastic family, now that we have arrived to tokyo and have already started to lay down some roots (and by that i mean that i know where all the internet cafes are - no internet at home yet) i can finally communicate and dedicate myself fully to you all.

as you may have noticed by now, the blog is different, has a new face and is now bilingual. with a new face because i thought it was time for a change. and bilingual because now, more than ever, this blog allows me to communicate with all of you about my adventures around the world, about my learnings and my interpretation of the world. but most importantly it is a tool to let my family know that life is treating me well on this side of the world.

well, everyone knows that almost all portuguese people are at least bilingual and as such i didn't feel the need to write in portuguese...until now.
until now my parents didn't ask me to, and besides of completely flattered to know that my parents want to read this blog, it is my pleasure that they understand what it's going on in here.
and that's it.

lots of kisses and see you soon

happy friday!!
