dia internacional da mulher & women's international day

hoje é o dia internacional da mulher. mas acho que muita gente não sabe o porquê deste dia.

ouvi pessoas a darem os parabéns às mulheres. parabéns por quê? por ainda haver uma diferencia de salário entre homens e mulheres? ou porque as mulheres são extremamente objectificadas nos filmes, videos  musicais, nas séries de televisão? ou é porque o número de violência de genero está a aumentar entre jovens e adolescentes? ou será que nos estam a dar os parabéns pela falta de objectividade dos jornalistas, como por exemplo na conferência de imprensa em que estava presente a a austronauta yelena serova e lhe preguntam como vai pentear o cabelo  ou como a sua filha vai lidar com a sua ausência durante a missão espacial? é isto pelo qual nos estão a dar os parabéns?

muita coisa mudou nas décadas de 60 e 70, mas há cerca de 10/15 anos para cá, em vez dos direitas das mulheres melhorarem, estamos a ver uma regressão desses mesmos direitos.

recentemente vi o documentário miss representantion. um filme que regista como as mulheres são vistas e tratadas nos estados unidos. ok, já sabemos que nos estados unidos tudo é sempre mais exagerado do que acontece na europa, mas infelizmente parece que a europa quer começar a igualar os estados unidos nas piores coisas.

- nos filmes as mulheres não são as protagonistas. e se são, são em dramas para conquistar um homem. nunca se viu um filme em que a mulher é a actriz principal e o filme é sobre ela encontrar o seu destino, como por exemplo em star trek

- por quê é que a mulher não pode ser poderosa?

- culturalmente a mulher é educada para ser basicamente insegura, esperando por aquele momento em que um cavaleiro a salvará e a sustentará

- ironicamente, quanto mais poder a mulher tem, mais forte é a reacção contra ela

- não é coincidência porque a midia tem vindo a tirar o poder das mulheres, ao mesmo tempo que as mulheres têm desafiado o poder dos homens

- estas imagens são parte de um clima cultural no qual as mulheres são vistas como coisas, como objectos; e transformar o ser humano em "coisa" é quase sempre o primeiro passo em direcção à justificação da violência contra essa pessoa

- não podemos fechar os olhos sobre como a midia influência a nossa cultura e prejudica tanto as nossas filhas como os nossos filhos

- como podemos esperar que os nossos filhos sejam homens íntegros, com consciência, que defendem a justiça social, tratem as mulheres com respeito e as defendam quando vêm alguem a tratá-las com desrespeito, se eles não vêm o seu pai a fazer isso, se eles não vêm os homens da sua cultura a fazer isso?

today is international women's day but I think a lot of people do not know the reason for this day.

I listened to people congratulating women. congratulations for what? for still existing a wage gap between men and women? or is it because women are extremely objectified in movies, music videos, in tv shows? or we should be congratulated because the number of gender violence is increasing among young people and teenagers? Is it because of the lack of objectivity from the journalists. for example, in a press conference in which astronaut yelena serova was present, she was asked how would she comb her hair or how her daughter would handle her absence during the time she would spend in the space mission.

a lot has changed since the 60's and 70's, but about 10/15 years ago, instead of women's rights grow, we are witnessing a regress.

recently I watched the documentary miss representation. a movie that shows how women are seen and treated in the united states. ok, we know that in the united states all is over he top compared to europe,  unfortunately it seems that europe is trying to catch up with the united states on the worst things.

below I leave you some of the phrases that have impacted me the most in this documentary. for those who want to see miss representation, I leave you also with the trailer and the link so you can stream it.

- in movies women aren't the star of the movies. and when they are, its in dramas to get a man. I never saw a movie where the woman is the lead character and she is in search of her destiny. like in star trek

- why can't the woman be powerful?

- culturally the woman is educated to be basically insecure, waiting for that moment when a knight will save her and support her

- ironically, the more power a woman has, the stronger the reaction against her is

- its no coincidence that the media has been taking power away from women, while women have challenged the power of men

- these images are part of a cultural climate in which women are seen as things, as objects; and turning the human being into a "thing" is almost always the first step towards justifying violence against that person

- we can not close our eyes on how the media influences our culture and harms both our daughters and our sons

- how can we expect our children to have integrity, be conscientious men who defend social justice, treat women with respect, and defend them when someone treats them with disrespect, if they do not see their father do it, if they do not see the men of their culture do that?
