george bernard shaw

george bernard shaw, definitely a very controversial man.

i found out about him not long ago and as i first went to wikipedia to read a bit more about him, his life and beliefs i was surprised and then shocked.

he was a man of strong convictions and unapologetic for his ideals.

george bernard shaw, in 1934

according to wikipedia, george bernard shaw is the only person to have won the literature nobel prize in 1925 and an oscar in 1938 for the film pygmalion based on his play with the same name. fun fact: this play was later adapted to a musical know as my fair lady

he is the owner of some of the most interesting quotes i have read and in spite of some of his ideals being in disagreement with mine, here are some quotes that you my find interesting, you can find more on this link.

  •  a government that robs peter to pay to paul can always depend on the support of paul
  • progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything
  • beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance
  • life ins't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself
  • a life spent making mistakes is not only more honourable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing
  • we are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future
  • imagination is the beginning of creation. you imagine what you desire, you will what you desire and at last you create what you will
  • we don't stop play because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing
  • the worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them; that's the essence of inhumanity
  • people who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it
